Study #5 - The Mark of the Beast

VERY IMPORTANT! If you have skipped to this study without completing Studies #1, #2, #3 and #4, you will short circuit your understanding of the subject. Go back and do the first four studies before proceeding. Studies #3 and #4 both identifed the Beast with nine points of identification. The number 666 was covered in study #4. This study identifies and explains the MARK and how the mark is received.
It must be repeated, this is the Word of God. The prophecies are His and are recorded by His servants the prophets. All the proofs we use to establish Biblical fact are directly from the Bible. So please understand, there is no attack on any individuals of any denomination. God has never allowed disobedience and disobedience runs rampant in the Christian world today, along with many man made doctrines that are contrary to God's Word and Will and are at the root of the worldwide Christian apostasy. The prophecies we are studying are meant to open up your understanding to the displeasure that God has in the religious systems of today, what will happen in the near future, and His expressed will for your life.
God's truth is likened to a two edged sword. It cuts both ways. We have one of two choices to make. Accept and follow God's Word, or we can reject it. We are held accountable for the truth we have learned. If you have discovered new truths in these studies, no matter what the sacrifice, Jesus would have us to follow and uphold His truth. With that said, let us now begin this most important Bible study. As always be sure that you begin your study with prayer for Holy Spirit guidance and understanding.

God's Strong Language -We better listen!

The MOST fearful, awesome and shocking language in all the book of Revelation, and for our generation in all of the Bible, is used to describe the MARK of the BEAST. To read how GOD describes the punishment for those who receive the Mark of the Beast, read Revelation 14:9-11.
9 Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand,
10 he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.
11 And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.”

Note-It is a fearful thing to receive this mark. Those that do would be hopelessly lost. We have found in study #3 and #4 that the religious system God has described is none other than the Papacy. Revelation also points out the vast overwhelming majority of the people on this earth will receive the mark of the beast. Now we will discover what the MARK is.

Peter Geiemann's "Converts Catechism of Catholic Doctrine."

2. The following questions and answers are from page 50 of Peter Geiemann's "Converts Catechism of Catholic Doctrine."
Q. "Which is the Sabbath day?"
A. "Saturday is the Sabbath day."
Q. "Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?"
A. "We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because the Catholic Church transferred the solemnity from Saturday to Sunday."
There was a man who read the above and was dumbfounded. He sent a letter to James Cardinal Gibbons of Baltimore, MD, inquiring if the Catholic Church did indeed change the Sabbath. The Cardinal replied, "Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change was her act. And the act is a MARK of her ecclesiastical power and authority in religious matters."
Notice the following words from "The Catholic Record" of London, Ontario, Canada, September 1, 1923. "Sunday is our MARK of authority....the church is above the Bible, and this transference of Sabbath observance is proof of that."

And from "A Doctrinal Catechism" by Stephen Keenan:
"Q. Have you any other way of proving that the church has power to institute festivals of precept?
A. Had she not such power, she could not have done that in which all modern religionists agree with her, she could not have substituted the observance of Sunday the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday, the seventh day, a change for which there is no Scriptural authority."
Note- The Papacy claims it changed the day of worship from Saturday to Sunday. It claims that Sunday-keeping is its mark of authority and power. God's mark or sign of power is the Sabbath and Sabbath-keeping. The beast's sign or mark of power is Sunday and Sunday-keeping. This subject may cut across something you have loved from childhood. So read the loving words of Jesus in Revelation 1:3 before we proceed. "3 Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near."

Did the Papacy really change God's fourth commandment?

3. Did the Papacy really change God's fourth commandment Sabbath to Sunday or only think that they had changed it? Daniel 7:25 "25 He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, Shall persecute the saints of the Most High, And shall intend to change times and law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand For a time and times and half a time." The KJV states, "....and think to change times and laws...."
"....and _____________ to change times and ____________."
Note- The message from God is clear, the Papacy only thinks a change has been made. The Sabbath of the fourth commandment is still binding. Sunday is not a holy day. According to the commandment, Sunday is one of the six we are commanded to work. See what Jesus said about the perpetuity of the law in Matthew 5:18 "18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled."

4. What was God's criticism of His ancient priests or pastors? Malachi 2:7-9 "7 “For the lips of a priest should keep knowledge, And people should seek the law from his mouth; For he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts. 8 But you have departed from the way; You have caused many to stumble at the law. You have corrupted the covenant of Levi,” Says the LORD of hosts. 9 “Therefore I also have made you contemptible and base Before all the people, Because you have not kept My ways But have shown partiality in the law.”
Note- God does not change, Malachi 3:6 "6 “For I am the LORD, I do not change;"
He still is hurt when religious leaders are partial to the nine commandments and cause people to stumble over His Sabbath commandment.

5. How did the people of Hosea's day regard the great things of God's law? Hosea 8:12 "12
I have written for him the great things of My law, But they were considered a strange thing."
Note- Things have not changed. If you decide to keep the great holy Sabbath of God's law, people will still consider it a strange thing.

How do the religious leaders of Ezekiel's day differ from today?
|
|
6. God said in Ezekiel's day that the religious leaders were putting no difference between profane and holy things. What specifically did He have in mind? Ezekiel 22:26 "26 Her priests have violated My law and profaned My holy things; they have not distinguished between the holy and unholy, nor have they made known the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they have hidden their eyes from My Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.
"They have _______ their ________ from my _____________".
Note-It is still happening today. Many religious leaders say, "There is no difference between Sabbath and Sunday" or "Any day will do if you are sincere". But God still says, "Thou hast despised mine holy things, and hast profaned my Sabbaths", Ezekiel 22:8. God will pour out His "indignation" Ezek 22:31 on those who say, "Thus saith the Lord God when the Lord hath not spoken." Ezek 22:28.
In order for anyone to claim that God says Sunday is a holy day, when God has only ordained the Sabbath day, is a very serious matter which He will not overlook.

God warned of changes to His law

7. What did God say about attempts to change His law or Word in any way? Deuteronomy 4:2,13 "2 You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. 13 So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone."
8. If I add to God's word, He counts me a ______. Proverbs 30:5,6 "5 Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. 6 Do not add to His words, Lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.
What is the reward of all liars? Revelation 21:8 "8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."
Note- This is serious and not to be taken lightly. Don't trust your eternal salvation to any man. God Himself has spoken in the scriptures on the subject of His Sabbath. Jesus created it, Jesus kept it. And Jesus said heaven and earth will sooner pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail. Luke 16:17 "17 And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass away than for one tittle of the law to fail." Sunday-keeping is a man made doctrine from the beast of Revelation 13, who got his authority from Satan.
9. What does Jesus say about man made doctrines. Matthew 15:8,9 "8 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips,But their heart is far from Me'. 9 'And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men'."

Listen carefully to the words of Jesus!

10. What does Jesus say about one who beaks one of the 10 or teaches men to do so? Matthew 5:19 "19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."
Note-This is one of the most startling things that Jesus ever said. A religious leader who is 90% correct is 100% wrong. Whoever breaks one of God's commandments, and that includes the Sabbath, and teaches men so, shall be call the what? The least in heaven. It's not too late for religious leaders to make an about face and get this issue right with God.
Note- God's word has established that the beast power of Revelation 13 is the Papacy. The change of Sabbath to Sunday is a MARK of her power. We now need to explore how the mark is received.

Where is the beast's mark placed on people?
|

11. Where is the beast's mark placed on people? Revelation 13:16 "16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,
"on their right _________ or on their ______________."
Note- The mark is not literal. Remember, we are dealing with symbols. The forehead represents the mind with which we serve God, Romans 7:25 "25 I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.";
and the hand is a symbol of work Ecclesiastes 9:10 "10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going."
Those whose belief system accepts Sunday observance willingly while rejecting God's Sabbath will receive the Mark of the beast in their forehead. Those who agree to work on God's Sabbath to avoid punishment are marked in the hand.

Does anyone have the Mark of the Beast right now?

12. Do people who now observe Sunday as a holy day, have the mark of the beast?
Revelation 13:16,17 "16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
"And that no one may ______ or _______ except one who has the
________________________."
Note-NO ONE has the mark of the beast right now. No one receives the mark of the beast until the law forces a person to stop buying and selling unless he has the mark. When a national Sunday law is passed enforcing cessation of work on Sunday and its observance as a holy day, then those who work on God's Sabbath and those who observe Sunday sacredness will be marked with the Mark of the Beast. However, those who keep God's Sabbath in spite of the punishment will receive God's special mark (His seal) that we will discuss later. Sabbath breaking, however, even today is a serious matter, because it involves sin, 1 John 3:4 "4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness." God reads our innermost thoughts and motives. We are held accountable for what we know. Those who knowingly profane God's holy day now, will lose the ability to think and see clearly and will end up in darkness. John 12:35 "35 Then Jesus said to them, “A little while longer the light is with you. Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you; he who walks in darkness does not know where he is going"

The sealing of God's servants

13. In these last days of the time of the end, God has commanded His angels to hold back the winds of strife from the earth until something happens to His people. What is that something? Revelation 7:1-3 "1 After these things I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 3 saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.”

Note- God's people are going to receive the seal of God in their foreheads. This is God's mark and it too involves a belief system. What is God's seal?
The Sabbath of the fourth commandment. God was the law giver and He has His seal. Whenever a law or official document is made by any government, a seal is placed on it to make it official. Three things are required in a seal:
#1. The name of the lawgiver.
#2. The title of the lawgiver.
#3. The jurisdiction, dominion or territory over which he rules and has authority. A notary's seal would give their name, title (notary public), and the city or county they have authority in. The same is true of a mayor, senator or president.

God put His seal in the ten commandments, and He put it in the fourth commandment. Exodus 20:11 "For in six days the Lord (Name) ;made (title-creator); heaven and earth, (territory, dominion)....and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it." The SEAL OF GOD is His 4th commandment.
Soon every person on earth will be in one of two groups. God's sealed group will be Ten Commandment keepers. Revelation 14:12 "12 Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus."
All the rest will be in the beast's group with his counterfeit Sunday mark.
The Holy Spirit is working with almost desperation to clearly show people that loyalty to God is involved here and to impress them to accept God's Sabbath mark which represents His creative and redemptive power. IT IS NOT ENOUGH to claim that we serve God, we must also obey Him. Luke 6:46 "46“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?"

14. Who shall receive God's wrath in the last days? Revelation 14:9,10 "9 Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10 he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb."
It will be those who receive the ______ of the __________.
Note- God's wrath is contained in the seven last plagues. The marking of the two groups will not involve a great deal of time. Once that period has ended, mankind's probation period will end and the seven last plagues will begin. God's mercy will be no where to be found. It will be eternally too late to offer any prayer for help. Those who have rejected His gift of salvation, and turned their heads on God's law, can blame no one for their loss, not their pastors or priests, not even Satan. What more could God have done for them.
15. How does God know and decide who it is that we serve? Romans 6:16 "16 Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?."
Note- God chooses to save everybody, 1 Timothy 2:3,4 "3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."
Satan desperately wants everyone to be lost. We choose whom we will serve by whom we obey. When I step under God's Sabbath banner, I have chosen to serve Him. When I, with my eyes wide open, step under the Sunday banner of the beast, God counts me as serving the beast. There will be no middle ground.

16. How does God count me if I am neutral? Matthew 12:30 "30 He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.
"He who is not ________ Me is ____________ Me".
Believers rejecting God's Sabbath will join the ranks of the unbelievers and receive the Mark of the Beast. Man doesn't say it. God inspired Word does! A lot of good professed Christian people will be lost on the matter of obedience to God's Word. Jesus never said if you love Me, feel good. He said if you love Me, keep My commandments. Heaven will consist of only those that are safe to save. Choose this day who you will serve. Will you embrace God's Holy Sabbath day, or will you reject His Love Gift to the world. Jesus was the creator and He made the Sabbath. It was He who wrote the commandments on stone. Pick one: Jesus's Sabbath or the Papacy's Sabbath? The Seal of God or the Mark of the Beast? Should there really be cause for hesitation? The choice is yours. Not your parents, not your priest, minister or Rabbi, not your spouse or your childrens. The eternal choice is yours.
